Clearing Negative Beliefs
What do you believe about yourself that limits your joy, peace and your experience of life as free-flowing and abundant?
I know that I sometimes expect life to be harder than it really is. Some parts of me still see God, the Universe as this oppressive, punishing male bully who demands account of every action (“How dare you come home late?”) There are certainly parts of me that still believe that abundance is somewhere “out there”.
The truth is, we all have these parts that block our flow. Some of these blocks are really major and close to the surface, we are already aware of them and ready to let them go, while others may surface after decades of inner work. But they do exist. We inherited so many negative beliefs from our families of origin, from our cultures, from our experiences. Add onto it the past lives, the broader energies that we connected with (such as our soul group or countries we have lived in), and the collective consciousness.
Sometimes it really is living the lives of others and thinking the thoughts of others — because we have not yet experienced our SELF, our own soul.
It may take a while to gradually peel off all the energetic “noise” to be able to see into the crystal-clear reality. Not as if through a mirror, dimly, but face to face.
And face to face requires great courage. Above all, the courage to face yourself and your deepest darkest demons, and instead of chasing them away — embracing them, and whispering into their ear “I love you. I’m sorry, please forgive me, I love you, thank you.”
And watch them dissolve into the light, losing all their power… Because you see, when we chased those demons, we only made them stronger…
Negativity is really any illusion of separation from the Source. This separation is ultimately not real, because nothing can exist outside the oneness that I call God (and you may call something else). And yet at any time we can choose to disconnect from that oneness and separate ourselves from the flow. This is what negativity is, in this purely metaphysical sense — an illusion of separation.
We are all here to restore this original oneness. To remember that ultimately all is one and that this flow of abundance is ours, has always been ours, and we have just temporarily descended into darkness so that we can transmute this darkness into light. Transmute this separation into light.
And this is how I see the process of clearing any negative beliefs and self-imposed limitations. As part of the work of perfecting the world. Perhaps the most important step is recognizing and identifying these beliefs, and accepting them for what they are. We will not see everything at once, but grow gradually, as our capacity to hold more light increases.
But once we know, we are ready to let go. Sometimes, all we have to do is ask, set an intention, “I want freedom from this!” and then take an active step towards that freedom, consciously choosing a new behavior or a new habit. Sometimes, we need a little help, and a little time, and a little back and forth. But we are all getting there, because we are in the same boat. Because in the end, darkness is not real and separation is not real. It will not hold. Because in the end, we will see ourselves for who we truly are — perfectly radiant beings without spot or blemish shining as bright as the sun and worthy of all the abundant goodness of the universe.
To your infinite radiance!
