Most of us have had at least one dream that seemed to defy the conventions of linear thinking. Maybe we got visited by a deceased relative, or received an answer to a question. Maybe our most popular song came to us in a dream. Maybe it was an idea for a book, a course outline, a vision for the future, the name of our business, the gender of a child...
My mother told me once, that when she just got pregnant, she saw a big bird in a dream. It was sitting on a branch and apparently my mother asked her what the gender of her child would be. The bird told her she would have a girl.
It is perhaps no coincidence that so many cultures have a legend of birds bringing the soul of a child to their parents. In my own guided journeys that I do with clients, I often use the imagery of a tree of life and a magical bird.
