Exorcism and the demonic is a topic that can either be blown out of proportion, or dismissed entirely.
Some people see the demonic everywhere, including in the manifestations of our own ego and lack of self-restraint. Some will say that a belief in the demonic is just a remnant of the old days when we had no modern medicine — or a projection of the ego that refuses to meet the dark side. Some others still say that darkness doesn't exist, or will be transformed into light, and thus, is already redeemed at higher dimensions.
And yet, once we have experienced these energies, we cannot un-know them.
In this episode, I meet an exorcist and a spiritual master of an Eastern animistic tradition. But the questions we discuss are common across all paths of life.
- What circumstances would make one choose the path of spiritual battle, of becoming an exoricst?
- Why do some people suffer from demonic oppression — and others don't?
- How to distinguish oppression/possession from mental illness?
- How do we protect ourselves?
We also discuss:
- the importance of spiritual lineage;
- when possession exacerbates mental illness and why this happens from a spiritual perspective;
- the very basic mechanics of possession from an energetic perspective (why the crazy things happen).
A Note on Egregores
We touch upon egregores and connecting to guides and high beings in our conversation, a topic that I explore in greater depth in both free and paid podcasts.
The basic principle I operate with is that when we connect to a high being, say, Archangel Michael or Mary Magdalene, we communicate with them through an egregore. An egregore is a sort of an energetic channel that is a composite of all prayers, aspirations, magical and spiritual practices and other types of energetic information connected to that being. This egregore also transmits the images, felt sensations and the assistance of the being we call on.
In other words, from my perspective, when we call on Archangel Michael, we engage with an egregore. It can even project an image of the archangel (in its most common and popular form), make us feel the energy as well as answer our requests and help us. It is fed by the collective energy of other prayers and requests. But we don't actually reach to the archangelic frequency on our own, because we cannot contain it nor interact with it in a way that we can process.
In this interview we only mentioned egregores in passing, and in relation to summoning beings we would not wish to be connected to.
